Bali Resumes International Flights After Two Years

Bali opens up international flights for global tourists after two years, according to the latest reports.

Mandatory quarantine remains in effect for all travellers

For the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic began in early 2020, direct international flights to Bali have resumed as Indonesia opens the resort island to all foreign visitors, but mandatory quarantine remains in effect.

According to the Xinhua news agency, foreign travellers must provide Covid-19 vaccination certificates obtained at least 14 days in advance before departure, as well as negative results of RT-PCR tests conducted in their countries of origin at a maximum of 48 hours before departure.

Travellers who have been fully vaccinated must quarantine for five days and those who have received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine must quarantine for seven days.

Another essential thing to keep in mind is that the quarantine should take place in a hotel or a liveaboard boat certified by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

The island officially opened to visitors from New Zealand, China, Japan, and some other countries in mid-October, but there have been no non-cargo flights since.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of foreign visitors to Indonesia fell by up to 1.6 million last year.

According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, prior to the pandemic, Bali alone could have welcomed 6.2 million foreign visitors per year on average.

The situation of COVID-19 in Indonesia

As per the information from the country’s Health Ministry, Indonesia confirmed 32,211 new Covid-19 infections as of Friday, bringing the total number of infections to 4,446,694, while the total number of confirmed Omicron cases in the country increased to 3,161.

“Every step we’ve taken has been calculated and carefully considered. However, keep in mind that all visitors must strictly adhere to the health protocols established by the Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force. All of this will be meaningless if we do not exercise discipline,” said Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, LuhutBinsarPandjaitan.
