Beautification Works at Khajaguda and Ibrahim Bagh Lakes to Continue Unhindered

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has assured that beautification works at Khajaguda Pedda Cheruvu and Ibrahim Bagh Lake in Neknampur will continue without any interruptions. HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath visited the lakes on Thursday and emphasized the need for conservation and tourism-friendly development of these water bodies.

During his inspection, Ranganath highlighted the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions from corporate entities and urged affluent local residents to support the initiative. Representatives from NSL Infra and Divyasree Infra raised concerns about development challenges at Khajaguda Lake. Addressing their issues, the Commissioner directed Irrigation Department officials to ensure proper channelization of sewage water to prevent pollution of the lake.

To enhance the tourism potential of these lakes, Ranganath urged the Tourism Development Corporation to actively participate in the beautification efforts. He suggested that AGM Tourism, Varaprasad, take necessary steps to improve the lake’s appeal and develop the surroundings into an eco-friendly recreational space.

Regarding Ibrahim Bagh Lake, Ranganath noted that recent encroachments had been cleared, and several organizations had already adopted the lake for conservation efforts. He called for the speedy completion of rejuvenation work to restore the lake’s natural beauty and ecological balance.

Local authorities informed the Commissioner that floodwater from Durgam Cheruvu, Khajaguda Lake, Malkam Lake, and Film Nagar Lake flows into Ibrahim Bagh Lake. However, rapid urbanization has led to pollution of these water bodies due to sewage inflow and waste accumulation, resulting in mosquito infestations and an unpleasant environment.

Assuring residents of necessary measures, Ranganath stated that efforts would be taken to divert wastewater, improve water quality, and protect the lake from further degradation. He also discussed the potential for further development of the 88-acre lake area to enhance its environmental and recreational value.

With these initiatives, authorities aim to transform Khajaguda and Ibrahim Bagh Lakes into cleaner, more scenic, and sustainable urban water bodies.
