In a groundbreaking achievement for Indian mountaineering, Bhukya Yashwanth Naik, a determined 20-year-old from Mahabubabad, Telangana, has successfully summited the formidable Mount Gorichen Main Peak, 6,488 meters. making him the youngest person to do so.
This remarkable feat was accomplished as part of an 18-day expedition led by Transcend Adventures in collaboration with the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS), Dirang. The ascent took place on September 19, 2024, after a challenging trek that began on September 4. Yashwanth and his team faced numerous obstacles, including steep slopes, loose rocks, and the daunting Marine Glacier, demonstrating exceptional skill, resilience, and teamwork.
