Bhupathi Reddy quits TRS, joins Congress

New Delhi, Sept.14 (NSS): Alleging that Telangana protagonists were being insulted and rendered injustice by the party high command, dissident MLC Bhupathi Reddy today resigned from the TRS and joined the Congress in the presence of AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi here.
Speaking to the media later, Bhupathi Reddy said he was in the TRS since its inception and helped strengthen the party in the district for 14 years. But he was constrained to leave the party as Telangana betrayers were being given top priority and positions in the party. He further alleged that care-taker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has miserably failed to develop the State in all the sectors in the last four-and-a-half years.
Bhupathi Reddy said the real farmers were not getting benefit from the Rythu Bandhu scheme. While the State government should have announced remunerative price for farm produce, Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao has transformed the surplus Telangana into debts-ridden Telangana. KCR was being surrounded by Telangana betrayers, he fumed. He also reminded that KCR had assured the STs of 9% reservations and 12% to the Minorities, but failed his promise. KCR did not even help even 400 activists out of 1,200 protagonists, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Telangana.
The TRS leaders, who scolded KCR, were inducted in the cabinet. He also alleged that the TRS party was sending out the leaders, who served the party sincerely. The Congress party belongs to weaker sections and backward classes, he said and exuded confidence that everything was possible with the Congress and hence he joined the Congress party. He also announced he would contest from the Nizamabad Rural constituency.
Another disgruntled leader Prof. Vidyasagar said though they participated in Telangana movement since its inception, the TRS party was giving tickets to betrayers. (NSS)
