BJP has nothing to do with NBW against Chandrababu: Purandeshwari

Vijayawada: Former Union minister and senior BJP leader Daggubati Purandeswari has responded on the issuance of a non-bailable warrant against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in an eight-year-old case relating to the TDP protest against construction of Babli project across the Godavari river by the Maharashtra government.

Speaking to the media here today, Purandeswari clarified that the BJP had nothing to do with the NBW. “How can the BJP be blamed for a case that has been filed in 2010?, she asked, adding that blaming the Centre for the warrant was illogical. The TDP leaders should consult the Maharashtra government instead of blaming the BJP government in Delhi.

Claiming that the construction of Babli project was illegal in 2010, she said the TDP, under the leadership of then Leader of Opposition Chandrababu Naidu, led a protest against the Maharashtra government. Purandeshwari asserted that the Polavaram project, which was a national project, would be completed by the Centre, adding that the Centre did not do injustice to the AP State government. The party leadership will discuss the state-of-affairs in the State and an action plan will be chalked out to strengthen the party in the State, she explained.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh BJP president Kanna Laxminarayana also pooh-poohed Chandrababu Naidu’s accusations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was behind the AP Chief Minister’s arrest warrant. He reminded Chandrababu Naidu that he had abstained from 22 court hearings in the case, which led to the issuance of the NBW. “This is the normal legal procedure”, he said, adding that Chandrababu Naidu was enacting new dramas blaming the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for everything, Kanna Laxminarayana said.
