BJP’s Standoff with Police in Hyderabad: Tensions Escalate Over Housing Plan

On Thursday, Union Minister and Telangana BJP president Kishan Reddy, along with other party leaders, faced police interference while attempting to examine a site of the state government’s housing plan for the needy in Hyderabad.

The incident occurred on Outer Ring Road, where police stopped Kishan Reddy and other BJP leaders from advancing to the housing site. Kishan Reddy sat on the road in protest of the police blockage, expressing his dissatisfaction.

He confronted the officers, asking whether he was being treated like a criminal or a terrorist. Asserting his right to roam freely everywhere in India, Kishan Reddy engaged in a verbal exchange with Rachakonda Police Commissioner D S Chauhan, who attempted to encourage him and the other leaders to leave the area quietly.

However, when the situation worsened, cops physically pulled Kishan Reddy and escorted him away from the scene to a waiting vehicle.Kishan Reddy had already stated his intention to visit the government’s two-bedroom housing complex in Batasingaram. The BJP leader had chastised the police for placing party leaders under “house arrest” in preparation of their visit to the construction site.

The event shows tensions between the BJP and the Telangana state administration, as well as ongoing political debates over a variety of issues, including the inadequate housing project.
