Hyderabad: Jamia Nizamia an Islamic Seminary in Hyderabad has issued a ‘Fatwa’ declaring casting of other’s Vote ( Bogus voting ) as deception, wrong ,urging Muslims to abstain from doing so.
Replying to a question by All India Sufi Ulema Council which claimed that there have been instances in which a few women, wearing burqa, have been indulging in bogus voting ( Other’s vote ). It stated that the practice is not uncommon and the naqab or veil is being misused. The query sought to know the “Shariah” Islamic point on the issue.
In response, the Jamia Nizamia’s Darul Ifta stated that as per Sharia, everybody should cast their vote. It then further added that ‘impersonation’ casting other’s vote ( Bogus Voting ) is wrong and that ‘Muslims should abstain from doing such practices’
Earlier on 3rd December the Chief Election Officer Mr. Rajat Kumar stated that We have removed as many as 4.93 lakh bogus, duplicate and fake votes from the electoral list including more than 2 lakh votes of repeated names and about 3 lakh votes of those died.
