Former Member of Parliament Vinod Kumar addressed the media, highlighting several pressing concerns regarding the recent NEET exams. Kumar, noting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s absence in Delhi, urged Reddy to advocate for Telangana’s withdrawal from the NEET system. He emphasized the need for the state to appoint a competent lawyer to represent its interests effectively in the Supreme Court.
Kumar pointed out that Telangana had successfully conducted the EAMCET for 60 years and suggested reverting to this system, expressing doubts about the frequency of NEET paper leaks. He underscored the adverse impact of the current NEET system on the state’s students. Kumar accused the BJP of centralizing all exams, likening it to turning states into municipalities and challenging federalism.
Referencing BJP leader Bandi Sanjay’s past demands for compensation for tenth-grade question paper leaks, Kumar questioned why similar demands were not made for affected NEET candidates and why Sanjay had remained silent on the issue. He concluded by calling on Parliament, which convened that day, to ensure justice for the students.

Kumar criticized the uniformity of a national exam like NEET, which he argued did not account for variations in syllabuses across different states for tenth-grade and intermediate exams. He highlighted the logistical challenges faced by NEET PG candidates, especially those who had traveled from abroad, due to the exam’s last-minute postponement. Kumar suggested that postponing NEET PG earlier, when irregularities were discovered in NEET UG, would have been more prudent.
Accusing the NEET UG exam of widespread malpractices, Kumar labeled it as one of the largest scandals in the history of independent India’s entrance exams. He alleged that NEET question papers were primarily leaked in NDA-ruled states, implicating significant financial ramifications. Kumar criticized the government’s selective approach to investigations, contrasting Prime Minister Modi’s deployment of the ED for minor cases against the lack of action regarding NEET irregularities.
Kumar highlighted an impending petition for an ED investigation into the NEET issue set to be heard in the Supreme Court, urging for transparency and accountability in handling the scandal.
