BRS Files Complaint After Bandi Sanjay Violates Poll Code

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi) filed a complaint against the Bharatiya Janata Party for violating the model code of conduct during the electioneering in the Munugode constituency.

The TRS (BRS) demanded stringent action against BJP State President Bandi Sanjay for asking voters to accept Rs.40,000 from TRS and other parties but vote for the BJP, demonstrating his respect for democracy despite being a Lok Sabha member.

Speaking to reporters after meeting with Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Satyavani on Tuesday, TRS (BRS) general secretary Soma Bharat Kumar urged the Election Commission of India to take action against Bandi Sanjay’s remarks, arguing that failure to do so would send the wrong signals to the people of the country.

He claimed that Bandi Sanjay “committed serious offences of criminal intimidation and criminal defamation” against TRS leaders during the Munugode bypoll. Kumar stated that Bandi Sanjay instructed voters to “commit corruption by accepting money for casting their vote”.

The TRS leader also claimed that the BJP leader “indulged in terrorizing the people” by attacking ruling-party leaders. Bharath Kumar opposed the comments made by Bandi Sanjay, calling them “objectionable vulgar language.”

He urged the EC to uphold the dignity of the Indian Constitution by taking appropriate action.

He accused the BJP State President of attempting to divide voters by referring to themselves as the Gods and the TRS as the Rakshasas (demons). He claimed that the BJP was using every poll tactic possible to sway voters, including the EC allotting a free symbol (road roller) similar to the TRS’ car symbol. He stated the party will take up a legal fight against such symbols following the bypolls.

In the upcoming Munugode bypoll, the ruling TRS will face off against former Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, who recently joined the BJP, necessitating the by-election.
