On Friday afternoon, a businessman named Nayeem was brutally hacked to death at Moinbagh in the Old City region by his brother-in-law and other individuals, causing commotion in the neighbourhood. Nayeem and his family had been married for four years and lived in Moinbagh, which was under the jurisdiction of the Santoshnagar police station.
The event began after Nayeem and his brother-in-law, Sufi, got into an altercation in Nayeem’s house. Following the dispute, the group used knives to attack Nayeem. Sufi also attacked Nayeem’s family members who attempted to intercede and save him. Unfortunately, due to excessive bleeding, Nayeem succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot.
The Santoshnagar police arrived quickly and began an inquiry into the crime. Sufi, the primary suspect in the case, has been apprehended by special teams. Senior police officers who examined the scene speculated that the murder may have been motivated by family disputes between Nayeem and his in-laws.
According to the police, Nayeem had a difficult relationship with his wife, Rubina Begum, and they had been having frequent disagreements over trivial topics for the previous year. Despite both families’ efforts to get the marriage back together, Nayeem continued to verbally and physically assault his wife. On the day of the incident, Nayeem’s brothers-in-law broke into the house, armed with knives and other weapons, and launched a murderous attack on him.
The Santoshnagar police have opened an investigation and have lodged a case.
