Central Team Assesses Telangana Flood Damage

Hyderabad: On July 31, an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) led by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Advisor Kunal Satyarthi will visit Telangana to assess the damage caused by recent heavy rains.

Representatives from different ministries and departments, including Agriculture, Finance, Jal Shakti, Power, Road Transport and Highways, and the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), will form the central team.

The central team was dispatched on the orders of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, according to Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy.
Heavy rains lashed Telangana over the last week, creating floods in low-lying areas and causing damage to agricultural crops across the state. During this time, at least 18 individuals were killed in rain-related incidents.

As the rain has stopped in many sections of the state, relief efforts have begun to pick up steam. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is in charge of relief efforts and has been in contact with ministries and the Chief Secretary for coordination.

The central team’s visit is intended to examine the degree of flood damage, and it will be followed by the state government’s submission of a detailed memorandum. The central team may return to Telangana for further review based on the assessment and the state government’s memorandum.

In response to the flooding, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the quick dispatch of a high-powered team of officials to Telangana to examine the damage. The visit of the central team will provide crucial insights into the situation on the ground and will improve the coordination of relief activities to aid impacted populations.
