Centre Gave 25.50 Lakh Mt Fertilizers, Keep Buffer Stocks: Niranjan

Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today instructed the officials concerned to ensure that buffer stocks of fertilizers are made available across the state of Telangana.

The minister informed that the Centre allotted 25.50 lakh metric tons of fertilizers to the state.

Niranjan Reddy held a video conference with SCR, Markfed, and other government agencies and state officials on procurement of fertilizers from the centre and later steps. The Minister discussed the immediate steps to ensure buffer stocks to cater to the needs of the Kharif season beginning in June month.

The state has 6.65 lakhs metric tons of fertilizer stocks including 3.73 lakhs MT Urea and 2.92 lakh MT others he said. As the centre gave stocks of the fertilizers same should be distributed to the godowns across the state. Provide buffer stocks by shifting already available fertilizers to the godowns in all districts he instructed.

Stating that the new godowns are to be made available in Warangal and Khammam districts, the minister asked the civil supplies, agriculture and others to coordinate to supply adequate stocks to all districts.

He instructed that the districts like Karim Nagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad and others which need more stocks be given on time. There shall not be any inconvenience to the farmers to get the fertilizers the minister said.  The hoarders and the traders violating norms like selling stocks will be punished seriously Niranjan Reddy warned.

The ministers instructed the officials to monitor continuously the fertilizers distribution and selling and availability to offer on time to the farmers for Kharif season.
