Charminar and Laad Bazaar Spruced Up Ahead of Miss World Heritage Walk

Hyderabad’s historic Charminar and the bustling Laad Bazaar are undergoing a rapid makeover ahead of the Miss World Heritage Walk scheduled for May 13. The iconic stretch is being beautified to offer a memorable cultural experience to the contestants, who will walk through the area and interact with locals.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is leading the clean-up and beautification efforts, which include sanitation, road repairs, lighting installations, and planting of date palm trees near Petlaburj and City College. Special lanterns are being installed along the 300-metre stretch of Laad Bazaar to enhance the evening ambiance.

“We’re ensuring the area is spruced up efficiently due to high footfall,” a GHMC official stated, adding that the lantern design has been chosen to withstand strong winds.

Security is being enhanced with a focus on deploying women police officers to ensure the safety and privacy of the Miss World participants as they engage with the public. Trial runs were conducted on Sunday with seven tourism buses and a women constable walkthrough to ensure smooth coordination.

This event is expected to spotlight the cultural richness of Hyderabad, offering the contestants a unique blend of heritage, hospitality, and local charm.
