Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy took a significant step in enhancing Hyderabad’s IT landscape by laying the foundation stone for a new Cognizant campus at Kokapet on Wednesday. This move follows a successful engagement during Revanth Reddy’s recent tour of the United States, where he, alongside IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, secured the commitment for this expansion from Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar.
The new campus, covering an expansive 10 lakh square feet, is expected to create 15,000 new job opportunities. The primary focus of the new facility will be on cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, digital engineering, and cloud solutions. This development marks a significant boost to the city’s IT sector, aligning with the government’s vision to make Hyderabad a hub for technology and innovation.
Cognizant, a major player in the IT industry, originally launched in Chennai in 1994. The company expanded its footprint to Hyderabad with its first campus in 2002. Since then, Cognizant has grown substantially, now operating five campuses in Hyderabad’s IT Corridor. The company employs approximately 57,000 people in the city and is recognized as the second-largest IT employment provider in the sector. Recently, Cognizant also made headlines by hiring 7,500 freshers, underscoring its commitment to nurturing new talent.
