Hyderabad: Former vice-chancellor of Telugu University and prominent poet N Gopi has described his last month’s visit to China as a literary tour. Gopi, who was the only representative from India to tour the people’s republic of China from October 21 to 29 made this observation today.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday arranged by Bharat-China Friendship Council, the former VC said India and China are prominent ancient countries on the globe. Six poets from China participated in a translators workshop. Describing Chinese international women poets as thunderbolts, Gopi said the Chinese girls are not only experts in languages but also good poetesses.
Revealing his experiences in China during the weeklong tour, Gopi said he was greatly impressed by their style of welcoming tourists. He said the people of China give utmost respect to poets. They are very hard-working and peoples of other countries should learn from them about dignity of labour. He also said the people in that country believe and adore Mao Zedong as architect of modern China.
India-China friendship council national general secretary Mohan Reddy, ICFA Telangana State president Solipeta Ramachandra Reddy, Dr Jatin, Vijayender Rao and others were present. (NSS)
