Hyderabad: At the end of 6 races on the day two of the Monsoon Regatta, which this year is considered as a National Ranking Champinship, Chunnu Kumar tops the fleet with a cool 24 points and well ahead of second place Sanchita Pant at 54 points.
However when the discards kick in tomorrow the positions will dramatically change and Uma Chauhan of NSS Bhopal will rise to the second position well ahead of all competition. He looks unassailable at this stage and in top form.
Local lad Bolli Jaikiran got one win and a 3rd but had two bad races, shipped water into his boat and placed at 18 and 25th in 2 races out of 4 dropping down to 4th position and beaten by fellow Swearoe from the Social Welfare schools of the Telangana Government.
Chunnu Kumar won the Telangana State Regatta and seems headed for gold in this National Ranking Championship by a huge margin. Some good sailing from Sanchita Pant of Bombay has given her first positions in the girls followed not so closely by Telangana winner Majji Lalitha.
The winds were mild in the first three races and started raging in the fourth race throwing a lot of sailor who could not adjust their rigs to the new conditions in the water destroying their consistency
The four day regatta will conclude on Sunday.
