City Mosques and Markets illuminates again to celebrate Shab-e-Meraj

After a one long year of grief and sorrow befall due to unsolicited pandemic, the Hyderabad City and its markets have illuminated again today to celebrate Shab-e-Meraj, the blessed ‘Night of Ascent’ when Prophet Muhammed PBUH was allowed to have an audience of almighty Allah SWT for the first time. The Night of Ascent, also known as Shab-e-Miraj, predominantly observed on 27th day of the month of Rajab i.e. the 7th month of Islamic calendar.

Similar to other events and occasions of the blessed life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), this blessed Night of Journey is a rich source of inspiration for the entire humanity. Sheb-e-Meraj took place approximately 10 to 12 years after Prophet Muhammed PBUH received first revelation from Allah SWT. This was a time of great sorrow and grief for the Prophet PBUH due to recent deaths of his beloved wife Khadijah R.A. and his uncle Abu Talib. It is during this difficult times, the Prophet PBUH was bestowed with audience of Almighty Allah SWT through this blessed journey.

This occasion, that predominantly celebrates in Muslims world and identically here in Hyderabad as per Islamic tradition, reminiscent the night when the Prophet PBUH ascended to the heavens from Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine and it is this night when the almighty Allah SWT gifted HIM the obligatory Prayer (Fardh Salah) and from him to HIS followers.

It is said that this miraculous journey of Miraj actually took place in two parts. First, the Prophet Mohammad PBUH went from Makkah to Jerusalem where Masjid Al-Aqsa is located and then ascended to the heavens by the will of Allah SWT.

The Muslims in the city prepare themselves to perform especial prayers on the night of Shab-e-Meraj as the theological lore goes high this occasion for which the Mosques were illuminated with lights and liming. Muslims offer prayers, recite holy Qur’an whole night, seek forgiveness and prey for benediction of their loved ones who departed.

People from Muslims around the city, attends the Mosques of respective localities in myriad to perform prayers in congregation other than the regular Fardh Salah. The next morning they visit the grave yards of their loved ones who passes away and pray for their benediction.

The markets, on the other hand were bedecked with fresh vegetables, fruits, savories, dress materials, perfumes, and footwear as the business shoots up top new high hinting towards a Ramzan festivities, a season called as a carnival of all business.
