Clash broke out between two groups in Punjab after Eng vs Pak T20 final

A mild communal tension broke-out in Punjab’s Moga district when two groups of students clashed with each other on Sunday after the Final T20 match between England and Pakistan.

It is learnt that the students from Kashmir and Bihar, pursuing nursing in Lala Lajpat Rai Group of Institution, picked up a quarrel and clashed with each other after the T20 final Match on Sunday. However, sensing the enormity of the situation the police reconciled the matter between the groups and sent them back to the hostel after warning them all against repeating the same in the future.

However, the college management has constituted an enquiry committee consisting of the faculty of the institution to enquire the matter. The committee will send the names of those students to the disciplinary committee, who were found guilty of Sunday’s clash for necessary action after the inquiry.

It is said that the clashes broke-out between the Kashmiri and Bihari students in the institution after the English team beat Pakistan in the T20 cricket world cup in Australia.

It is said that the argument picked up between the two groups of students and soon resulted in stone pelting in the hostel that left several students injured from both the sides. Finding the situation moving out of control, the police resorted to lathi charge and took many of them into custody.

Both the groups later blamed each other for provocation. However, the police brought five students of each group to the table late at night and reconciled the matter in the presence of Dr.Ramesh Bansal, a college representative.

It is not out of place to mention here that clashes between pro-India and pro-Pakistan groups became a fashion these days and not confined to India itself. Recently similar clashes were witnessed between the supporters of both Indian and Pakistani cricket teams, far away in England, after the Indian team beat its arch rival Pakistan.
