CM helped make Telangana Power Sector a role model in country: CMD/TSGENCO

Hyderabad: D. Prabhakar Rao, CMD/TSGENCO & TSTRANSCO today said that under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Telangana Power Sector has become a role model in the country and appealed to the employees to rededicate for the betterment of power sector with ultimate consumer satisfaction as the goal. For the extraordinary achievement, the entire credit goes to team work of power sector, he added.

Speaking after hoisting national flag on the occasion of 71st Republic Day at Vidyut Soudha, Prabhakar Rao said in a major development, TSGENCO introduced the concept of Reversible Pumping Facility at Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam Hydel stations. The flexibility of Reverse Pumping System at these Hydel stations is very much beneficial for Grid Management and has also resulted in substantial quantum of power of 518 MU from Srisailam Project and 162 MU from Nagarjuna Sagar Project during the period of last 3 years thereby minimizing the costly purchases during the peak hours.

“Telangana has become a fast happening state in power sector. Nowadays, the major concern for the entire world is the Climate Change and Global Warming. The way, the global economy manages the natural resources deeply influences the Earth’s climate. Currently, Electric Vehicleindustry is fast picking up and set an ambitious target of having 100% electric vehicles for public transport and 40% electric vehicles for personal mobility by 2030. Auto Mobile Industry has been stressing the urgent need for creating charging infrastructure at a rapid pace, which would be a determining factor for growth of Electric Vehicles in the country.

A separate consumer category for these charging agencies is also created. In an effort to enhance the energy security and to mitigate the adverse environmental impacts from road transport vehicles, TS Power utilities are fully geared up to supply the required bulk power to the upcoming charging agencies”, the CMD said. The transmission and distribution network is strengthened & augmented with an investment of Rs 26,000 Crores. After formation of the State, to meet the industrial, agriculture and other increasing demand in the State, 114 Nos of EHT sub-stations and 8,940 circuit kilometers of EHT lines are added to the system. The transmission capacity has been augmented from 14059 MVA to 34357 MVA. It is a pride that TSTRANSCO has the distinction of having the lowest transmission losses at 2.85% and highest transmission availability in the country at 99.9%.

The CMD said discharging the assigned duties is also a way to express our love & solidarity to the country and appealed to all employees to rededicate for the betterment of power sector by following strict discipline which shall take the sector to new heights. Since, consumer is the pay master, all the employees have to further strive hard to extend value added services with the motto of “consumer satisfaction is the ultimate goal of power utilities”, he said.
