Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today directed the officials concerned to speed up the irrigation projects and complete them on a war-footing. Since the TRS government gave top priority to irrigation sector to irrigate one crore acres, the projects have to be completed in a time bound manner, the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister was chairing a review meeting on the irrigation projects in Telangana at Pragathi Bhavan for the first time after taking over as chief minister followed by the Assembly elections. Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Chief Secretary SK Joshi, Finance Prinicipal Secretary Ramakrishna Rao and other top officials attended the crucial meeting.
“In the wake of dissolution of the Assembly and advanced polls, the projects were on a backseat due to election code. Now with the TRS returned to power with people’s mandate, we will irrigate one crore acres by completing the projects with rejuvenation and zeal”, the Chief Minister said and sought details from the officials about several ongoing projects, nearing completion and to be taken up.
The Chief Minister said the projects are a key for the agriculture development and welfare of the farmers. KCR asked about the status of various projects, financial resources and available funds. He also instructed them to speed up the works related to the projects using financial sources and available funds. (NSS)
