Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasures Gudur Narayana Reddy on Friday demanded that the all the Advisors of Government of Telangana should be asked to quit or be removed from their posts.
“In view of dissolution of Telangana State Legislative Assembly, a regular government cease to exist in Telangana and the present government is just of caretaker nature. Therefore, there is no need for any Advisors, at least for now. Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan should either direct all the Advisors to resign from their positions or issue orders to scrap the post,” Gudur Narayana Reddy said.
The Congress leaders said that all the Advisors to the Government were appointed by nomination basis by TRS Government. They are holding a cabinet rank and other facilities. “There is no reason for them to stay in office with the government being of a care-taker nature. Their continuance in office will not only be a burden on State’s Exchequer, but some of them might also influence the next elections by taking advantage of their posts. Therefore, all of them must resign immediately,” he said.
“As the council of ministers is not in place and have no decision making powers with the dissolution of the House, there is no place for the Advisors as their perks are being paid by public money. The Congress party demands the immediate resignation of the Advisors to Government, Corporations’ chairmen and others holding nominated posts and taking perks from the Treasury. Various departments having liaison officers with a PR brief should also quit with immediate effect,” Gudur Narayana Reddy demanded.
The Advisors to Government of Telangana are: Dr. Rajiv Sharma (Chief Advisor), A.K.Goel (Planning & Energy), A. Rama Lakshman (Welfare), B.V.Papa Rao, (Policy & Institutional Development), K.V. Ramanachary (Media Affairs), G.R. Reddy (Finance), Dr. G. Vivekananda (Inter State Affairs), A.K. Khan (Minorities Welfare), Suddala Sudhakar Teja (Architecture Building and Planning Wing of R&B Department), Dr. Rajendra Prasad Singh (Energy Sector) and Anurag Sharma (Home).
Commenting on dissolution of Telangana Assembly, Gudur Narayana Reddy described the decision as suicidal for KCR. “The decision to dissolve the assembly eight months in advance shows the anxiety and fear of KCR and impending defeat as is evident from the language he has been using of late,” he said adding that the the Congress party was all set to win the next elections under the leadership of TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy. (NSS)
