Congress would be more safer without Azad:Girijesh Vashishta

Finding fault with the gripe of disbanded Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad that all shorts are being taken by a chowkidar in the party,  Girijesh Vashishta, a senior journalist said “Azad is griping most today because he lose his own ‘chowkidari.”

While taking part in a Debate over an online Hindi Channel, Vashishta said, “Azad has earned his career because of the Gandhi family. He wrote his own bio- data all because of the blessings of the Gandhi family and what stature he enjoys today is because of the dedication and allegiance he showed with this particular family. This is an undeniable fact. Whoever tries to ignore this will lose their career.”

Reminding that Azad always claimed himself as a card carrying Congress comrade who nurtured the party with his blood, he said “Old darbaries (coteries) always feel insecure with the entry of new members in the court as they felt they will no longer hold worth with the new entries. This is the exact situation that persists here.”

“So many people want to see a change in congress party for the heck of it,” he said adding that “If anyone really has revolutionised the Congress party then he is none other than Rahul Gandhi himself. Many people may not accept this because of the popular perception being spread through the social media platform.”

However, he said, Rahul has introduced reforms in the party like conducting organisational elections, framing criteria for selection of candidates on the bases of individual popularity among the local people. For every candidate who wishes to contest on congress ticket have been told to get the support of local people first before claiming the ticket etc. Actually these are the measures squarely considered as part of a reforming framework.

“One of the biggest reforms was the abolishment of “Chamchagiri culture” in the congress the party is known for. Every leader including Ghulam Nabi Azad was part of this obsequious culture and today what position he is enjoying is because of the same background. The time Azad has chosen to resign from the party especially when Sonia is not well and Rahul is out of India to oversee her mothers’ health, is something like he is anxious to get out of the party like the fish agonised out of the water.”

In my opinion, Girijesh said, it is better for the congress party to get rid of this kowtows as Rahul Gandhi is trying to fill new blood in the congress to revitalize the party.
