Contaminated Water Crisis Hits Sanathnagar: Over 200 Houses Affected

Over 200 houses in Sanathnagar constituency are grappling with a severe drinking water contamination issue after drainage water was found mixed with the regular supply. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) is actively investigating the contamination to identify the source of the problem.

The issue came to light on Tuesday when residents of DNM Colony reported receiving black water from their taps. Distressed by the alarming quality of the water, they immediately alerted the authorities and Dr. Kota Neelima, the constituency’s in-charge.

HMWSSB teams deployed advanced camera technology to inspect the pipelines and trace the fault. Preliminary investigations suggest a significant breach in the water supply system that allowed drainage water to mix with the potable supply.

In response to the crisis, Dr. Neelima has called for the deployment of water tankers to provide residents with safe drinking water. She emphasized the urgency of the situation, particularly highlighting the health risks posed to vulnerable groups such as children.

Dr. Neelima criticized the municipal authorities for their long-standing negligence, which she believes has contributed to the severity of the current issue. She has assured residents that both immediate and long-term solutions are being coordinated with relevant departments to address the contamination and prevent similar incidents in the future.

Local leaders and officials are working in collaboration to manage the crisis and mitigate the health risks associated with contaminated water. The community remains hopeful that swift action will restore safe drinking water to their homes and prevent future occurrences of such issues.
