A 22-year-old woman IT professional was allegedly raped at her apartment in the Kondhwa area of Pune by an unidentified man posing as a courier delivery agent. The shocking incident occurred around 7:30 PM on Wednesday, sparking widespread concern and prompting swift action by the Pune Police.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde, the accused arrived at the woman’s residence claiming to deliver a bank-related document. He asked for a pen under the pretext of signing a paper and entered the flat when the woman turned her back to fetch it. He then latched the door and allegedly assaulted her.
The woman, who had recently completed her Information Technology studies and works with a private firm, was alone at home as her brother was out of town. She reportedly lost consciousness during the attack and regained awareness around 8:30 PM. Upon waking, she informed her relatives, who immediately alerted the police.

Investigators revealed that the accused took a selfie on the victim’s phone, showing his partial face and her back, before leaving a chilling message warning her not to speak about the incident. He threatened to make her photos viral on social media if she disclosed the crime and added a disturbing note: “I will come again.”
Police suspect that the accused might have used a substance or spray to render the woman unconscious. Authorities are currently verifying this and have sent the victim for a medical examination. The police have also begun scanning CCTV footage from the housing society and are working on preparing a sketch of the suspect.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including rape, voyeurism, and criminal intimidation. The incident has caused deep distress across the city, with the police urging citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior immediately. The manhunt continues as the police intensify efforts to trace the accused and bring him to justice.
