Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari announced on Saturday that the Young India Skill University will commence its courses from the upcoming Dasara festival. In a high-level meeting held in the city, Kumari revealed that the university has identified around 20 courses, with six set to launch in conjunction with the Dasara celebrations.
The meeting, attended by key officials including Rama Krishna Rao, Special Principal Secretary of Finance, Jayesh Ranjan, Special Principal Secretary of Industries, and Burra Venkatesham, Principal Secretary of the Education Department, highlighted the progress and future plans for the university.
Kumari disclosed that the foundation stone for the Young India Skill University has been laid on a 57-acre plot of land in Mucherla. Until the completion of the permanent campus, the university will operate from a temporary location at either the Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI), the National Academy of Construction (NAC), or the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM).

The university’s leadership includes Anand Mahindra as Chairperson and Srinivasa C. Raju as Co-Chairman. Their appointments mark a significant step in the establishment of the university, which aims to address skill development needs across various sectors.
The initiative has garnered substantial interest, with about 140 companies expressing their willingness to participate. The university plans to offer a diverse range of courses, including certificate and diploma programs in fields such as e-commerce, logistics, and retail. Leading corporate organizations, including State Bank of India (SBI), NAC, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, TVAGA, and ADANI, have committed to partnering with the university for training purposes. Additionally, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has also extended its support.
The launch of these courses is expected to provide significant opportunities for skill enhancement and employment in key sectors, reinforcing the university’s role in fostering career readiness and professional growth among the youth.
