CPI Expresses Concern over CBI Officers’ Accusations

Hyderabad : The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has expressed its concern about accusation and counter accusation made by top officers of CBI, damaging the credibility of the investigating institution. It is worth noting that both these officers Aloke Verma is of Union cadre and Asthana from Gujarat cadre are picked up by the Prime Minister Office to serve in CBI. At present CBI is under the Prime Minister, hence the credibility of prime minister’s office itself is at stake and it is alleged that CVC had not cleared their names before their appointment, said a statement issued by the National Secretariat of the party here today. .

The statement also mentioned that Apex Court has many times directed CBI to enquire in to important matters, and hence it would be appropriate for the Apex Court to take Sue Motto action in this serious matter and direct the government to take appropriate steps to re-establish credibility of CBI and inform to Supreme Court.
