CPI Hails Trump-Kim Accord

New Delhi: The Communist Party of India today welcomed the Korean Accord reached at the Trump-Kim Summit in Singapore which will possibly lead to de-nuclearization in the Korean peninsula. The joint statement issued by the two leaders after the Summit is positive and needs to be welcomed by one and all, it added.

Till the actual beginning of the Summit, there was apprehension that it may not take place which has gratified the opponents of any such meeting. But the opponents proved to be wrong when President Trump left the G-7 meeting in Canada mid-way and landed in Singapore. Though the joint statement has not clarified many issues, the CPI welcomed the joint meeting as a bold move to go ahead for peace in the Korean Peninsula that will pave way for such more positive moves in many other parts of the world.

The CPI said, “It wants to make it clear that the Summit does not mean that the US under Trump has given up its imperialists designs. It wants revival of its military-industrial complex to revive its crisis-ridden economy, for which it will continue to spark conflicts and wars among neighbours and regions”.

“The CPI feels that it is the duty of all peace loving people to explain the all possible pros and cons of the new accord and use the opportunity to force many more such initiatives in different parts of the world particularly in our sub-continent”, the statement added. (NSS)
