Hyderabad : Probably sad with the Mahakutami for delaying finalization of seats sharing by the Congress, the CPI, with a plan to contest 25 segments independently, today held a special meeting at Makhdoom Bhavan here. The meeting, which went on in a hot manner as some of the leaders vouched for at least 10 seats from the grand alliance and favored to contest independently. The CPI leadership seeking at least 12 seats from the Congress-led grand alliance, plans to offer about three or four seats to it. The grand alliance partners are somehow unhappy at the Congress for not finalizing the issue of seat sharing among its allies, including TDP, CPI and TJS.
If the Congress offers at least eight to ten seats it will go with grand alliance or else will contest independently from 25 segments which will rupture the probabilities of the grand alliance that is fighting against the ruling TRS which is ahead in the poll campaign. The CPI Telangana Secretary and former MLA Chada Venkat Reddy, who chaired the meeting, said the Congress has to finalize the sharing of the tickets.
Former MLA K Sambasiva Rao left the meeting in the middle in a huff at the Mahakutami’s delaying tactics. He denied reports that the CPI will contest independently followed by a feud among the allies. “Some parties are resorting to carry out misinformation campaign against us and we will go with the grand alliance”, he said. However, the other side of the coin is that the Congress is to give less number of tickets to the CPI as it has no big cadre in the segments. Reddy said the CPI has vote bank in all the constituencies. The CPI is ready to accept nine against 12 seats sought or else plans to contest 25 segments at the hustings.
The CPI plans to contest from the segments include – Husnabad, Aler, Munugode, Kothagudem, Vyra, Pinapaka, Bellampally, Mancherial, Devarakonda, Kuthbullapur, Malkajgiri, Maheshwaram, Medchal, Sidhipet, Bhadrachalam, Chennur, Tandur, Bhupalapally, Narsampet, Chevella, Mahabubabad, Madhira, Paler, Nagar Kurnool and Mana Kondur according to information.
