Hyderabad, Nov.5 (NSS): The grand alliance partner, CPI, on Monday set a 48-hour long deadline to alliance partner Congress party for the finalisation of the seats and threatened that it pull out of the alliance on contest elections on its own if the latter did not finalize the seats to be allocated to the alliance partners within the deadline. In order to mount pressure, the left party has also made public the list of assembly segments they have demanded from the Congress party.
Addressing media persons in the city, The State secretary of the party Chada Venkat Reddy said that they were forced to declare the list of the seats demanded by them as there was an inordinate delay in the finalization of the seats among the grand alliance partners. He, however said that they would not declare the party candidates for the next two days in order to contest the elections as a grand alliance partners. “ We are not happy with the attitude of the Congress party and its leaders. We had no option but to declare the seats that we have demanded from the Congress Party. But we are not announcing the names of our party candidates for the next two days in order to allow the Congress party to finalize the seats. If it fails to do so, we will declare our candidates,” he said.
He said that any further delay in the finalization of the assembly seats would send out a wrong signal to the people of the state. “ It is quite disappointing that the discussions over the seat-sharing issue have not yet finalized the come seats among the alliance partners despite the fact that they were even held at national level. We have actually prepared two plans- Plan-A and Plan B and put the plan-B before the Congress party. The discussions on our plan B was held for almost 15days. However no outcome has come out of these discussions so far,” he said.
Reddy went on to add that they would declare their candidates for Nine assembly segments where they were strong in the state if the Congress party did not respond to their ultimatum. “ We can’t wait any more for the sake of people of the state. We are even ready to bring down the number of seats we are demanding to ensure the victory of the grand alliance in the state. There is an urgent need to complete the seat-sharing process as soon as possible to jump into the election campaign,” he said.
The state party secretary said that there was an overwhelming response from the people of the state to the grand alliance formed by the opposition parties. The seats declared by the party to contest the upcoming elections on its are Kothagudem, Wyra, Husnabad, Bellampally, Alair, Munugodu, Pinapaka, Manchiryala and Devearakonda.
