The Telangana section of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has chastised the state administration for its response to the recent floods. The party asked Rs 10 lakh in compensation and rehabilitation for flood victims, particularly farmers who were seriously impacted.
The ruling BRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) government and the BJP-led center were blamed by the party for their purported anti-people development strategies. They stated that open-pit mining and other imperialist projects were harming the state’s environment and demanded that they be stopped immediately.
The recent high rains in Telangana has caused significant damage, including the displacement of many individuals whose homes were swamped in floodwater. During the current monsoon season, the state received 569.2 mm of rain, which is 51% more than usual. Siddipet had the largest deviation of 100 percent, with other districts also suffering substantially high departures.
Concerns have been expressed by many political parties and activists, with the CPI(M) endorsing the call for adequate compensation and rehabilitation measures for people harmed by the floods.
