CWC teams’ visit to Hyderabad marked with protests, left city Muslims dejected

Central Waqf Council (CWC) team’s three-day visit to Hyderabad city marked with protests, representations, and a ratcheting-up heated argument between the groups of Waqf vigilante and the visiting team members representing different states.

The team members even stoke up a controversy by dictating the central government’s political agenda for Telangana – a member even heard saying that they can’t deliver anything until the BJP senior leaders Kishan Reddy became the Chief Minister of Telangana, more than focusing on the measures towards protecting Waqf lands and properties in the state.

The uproar begins with the report that the team members choose to stay at Hotel Anmol, Mehdipatnam owned by Mohd. Saleem, the most disputed Chairman of Telangana State Waqf Board (TSWB). More outrageous is the team members’ allegedly patting the TSWB during a press conference for ensuring cancelling of registrations of at least 50 properties built on Waqf land in the city.

The impassive attitude of few of the members, openly expressing inability to bring any change in the present way of functioning of TSWB, blows up the steam though the CWC fully acquainted with all the nitty-gritty prevalent in the board and the murky dealings of Waqf lands and disputes pending in the courts that the Waqf vigilante says advertently pushed to procrastination only to suit the vested interest.

A heated argument ensued between the delegation of Sufi Ulema Council (SUC) led by its President Sufi Syed Shah Mohammed Khairuddin Quadri and the CWC team when one of the members audibly heard saying that “they can’t do anything about the Waqf issues being drag to them as it is a prerogative of TSWB.” Replying to this, Moulana Quadri said “If the CWC team visited the city just as a globetrotting on the expense of Hyderabadi Muslims and to play with their sentiments.”

One of the members even heard saying that “Until the BJP forms the government in Telangana we can’t play more than a mute spectator, Moulana Quadri said, adding that “They vehemently protested against the asinine comment of the CWC member and pose a slew of question over them that prompted the members to express their impromptu apology.”

The CWC teams hold no weight in dictating the terms to TSWB as they only visit the city to beat the drums of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) whom they belong to.

The All India Majlis Inquilab-e-Millat (AIMIM) has also made a representation to the CWC team carrying around 12 points highlighting the plight of the Waqf board and the playful act of authorities to demean the cause meant to safeguard the Waqf properties and assets in Telangana.

The CWC’s visit to the city is nothing more than a globetrotting without any purpose. They stayed at a three-star hotel in the city-owned by Chairman State Waqf Board (TSWB), enjoyed Hyderabadi dishes, and returned back to Delhi only to paint the picture that they are active and efficiently performing their duties towards protecting the Waqf properties,” blamed Mateen Shareef, a senior Congress leader.
