In light of the upcoming New Year celebrations on December 31, the Cyberabad Traffic Police have issued a series of restrictions and guidelines aimed at ensuring public safety and smooth traffic management across the city. The measures are designed to prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment for all commuters.
One of the key traffic regulations includes the closure of the Nehru Outer Ring Road for light motor vehicles from 10 pm to 5 am, with the exception of vehicles heading towards the airport. Similarly, the PVNR Expressway will be closed to vehicles, except those bound for the airport, during the same hours.
The traffic department has also issued specific instructions for cab drivers, taxi operators, and auto rickshaw drivers. All drivers must be in proper uniform and carry all necessary documents. They are prohibited from refusing rides to the public, and failure to comply will result in a penalty of Rs. 500, which will be levied through an e-challan. The public is encouraged to report any such violations via WhatsApp at 9490617346, providing details such as vehicle number, time, and location. Additionally, drivers are reminded not to misbehave with passengers or demand excessive fares.

In an effort to curb incidents of drunk driving, the Cyberabad Traffic Police have warned establishments such as bars, pubs, and clubs that knowingly or negligently allow their customers to drive under the influence of alcohol. Managements of such establishments will face legal action for abetting the crime. The authorities are urging bar and club owners to educate their customers on the consequences of drunk driving and to make alternative travel arrangements for patrons who are intoxicated. Customers found attempting to drive while drunk will be stopped from doing so by the establishment staff.
To enhance enforcement, special cameras have been installed across the city to detect dangerous traffic violations such as wrong-side driving, unauthorized parking, overspeeding, signal jumping, rash driving, and riding without helmets. Violators will be identified through these cameras, and strict action will be taken against them.
Additionally, extensive checks for drunk driving will be conducted on all roads within the Cyberabad limits starting from 8 pm. Police officers will be stationed at key locations to ensure that the New Year celebrations are safe and enjoyable for everyone.
The Cyberabad Traffic Police have urged the public to cooperate with these guidelines and to celebrate responsibly to ensure a safe and happy start to the New Year.
