Amid growing pressure to optimise budgets and tackle increasingly complex cyber threats, cybersecurity leaders across the globe are prioritising artificial intelligence (AI) as a strategic investment. According to Wipro’s State of Cybersecurity Report 2025, nearly one-third of cybersecurity executives have ranked AI-driven automation as their top priority.
The report reveals that 30 percent of respondents consider AI automation the leading strategy to streamline cybersecurity operations and reduce costs. In addition to AI, Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) are also adopting other cost-optimisation techniques such as tools rationalisation (26 percent), process optimisation in security and risk management (23 percent), and simplifying operational models (20 percent).
Tony Buffomante, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Cybersecurity and Risk Services at Wipro, stated, “Cybersecurity budgets are struggling to keep pace with the growing sophistication of cyber threats. AI offers a solution by helping organisations strengthen defences while optimising costs. This shift allows CISOs to focus on outcome-driven strategies and risk-adjusted returns on investment.”

Beyond financial benefits, the report highlights that AI is increasingly being used to enhance threat detection and accelerate response times, with 31 percent of CISOs citing this as a major benefit. Another 24 percent pointed to improved incident response capabilities as a critical outcome of AI integration.
The report also underscores the importance of continuous investment in AI-powered security tools, proactive monitoring of AI advancements, and fostering innovation within cybersecurity teams.
Despite the rise of AI in security operations, implementing Zero Trust frameworks continues to be a top priority, with 97 percent of cybersecurity leaders placing it at the forefront of their investment agendas.
Wipro’s findings reflect a broader industry trend of leveraging emerging technologies to stay ahead of evolving digital threats while managing costs effectively.
