Dalit MPs urged to raise voice in Parliament over SC, ST Prevention Act

Hyderabad: A round table conference conducted by different dalit organizations here today demanded that Parliament members belonging to SC and ST communities from two Telugu States should raise their voice in both the Houses about protection of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.

Addressing the media here today, NSR Raju, national president of Ambedkar & Jagjivan Ram Welfare Association, Sampath Kumar, a social activist and E. Bheema Rao, working president of LJP, said the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act should be included in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution. They feared that the MPs of the reserved seats would lose their reservations as they were not raising their voice in Parliament about the restoration of SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. They also profusely thanked Union Minister and LJP chief Ramvilas Paswan, another Union minister Ramdas Athawale, BJP MPs Udith Raj, Savthri Bai Phule and others
