Deepika Padukone Becomes First Indian Actor to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Deepika Padukone is set to make history as the first Indian actor to be honoured with a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the official body responsible for the Walk of Fame, confirmed the announcement through its official Instagram page on Wednesday night.

Padukone has been named as part of the prestigious Walk of Fame Class of 2026, alongside several international celebrities from the fields of film, television, and music. Notable names joining her include Emily Blunt, Timothée Chalamet, Marion Cotillard, Stanley Tucci, Rami Malek, Rachel McAdams, and Demi Moore. Acclaimed directors Chris Columbus and Tony Scott will also be honoured.

In the television category, recipients include The Office creator Greg Daniels, actors Sarah Michelle Gellar, Bradley Whitford, Noah Wyle, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, among others.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame, located along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles, is a world-renowned tribute featuring over 2,700 brass stars embedded in sidewalks. It celebrates artists who have made significant contributions to film, television, music, radio, and live performances.

Though some Indian-origin personalities such as conductor Zubin Mehta and actor Sabu Dastagir have previously received stars, Deepika Padukone is the first mainstream Indian film actor to be recognised with this honour.

Since her breakout Bollywood debut in Om Shanti Om (2007), Padukone has starred in numerous critically acclaimed and commercially successful films like Piku, Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Chhapaak, and Gehraiyaan.

She also made her Hollywood debut in 2017 opposite Vin Diesel in XXX: Return of Xander Cage. Deepika’s global influence was acknowledged by TIME magazine, which named her among the 100 most influential people in 2018 and honoured her with the TIME100 Impact Award. She further cemented her international stature by serving on the Cannes Film Festival jury in 2022. Padukone is currently filming an untitled project directed by Atlee, which also stars Allu Arjun.
