The medical staff who have been working without pay for the last three months have been threatened with termination if they continue their protest over unpaid salaries.
Due to the current health situation of the Covid pandemic, all junior and senior residents are hereby directed to return to duty by 9 a.m. on February 3, 2022. This is required to run the hospital’s basic health services, reads an office order of the hospital.
The EDMC-run hospital’s medical staff has been protesting their demands for the immediate release of pending salary from February 1. In the hospital, all services, including emergency, have been interrupted.
Dr Atul Jain, RDA President of the hospital, told IANS, “We are only asking for our rights.” We do not have any demands from the administration. We have requested an updated salary release as well as written assurances of regularization of monthly salary and payment of all pending arrears.” Dr Jain stated that we have fought against the worst Covid waves, but we are still not being given the rightful compensation of our salaries.

“The EDMC Commissioner has ensured us that we will receive two months’ pay by April, which is completely unacceptable. Another four months’ pay will be due by April. We have no choice but to demonstrate for our rights “Dr Jain stated further.
He stated that he raised the issue of salary payments with hospital administration several times but that it was never addressed.
The doctors’ protest has also been supported by the Federation of All India Medical Association (FIAMA). Corona Warriors from Swami Dayanand Hospital Delhi, which is operated by MCD, are fighting for their basic rights against the administration. They haven’t received their pay for the past four months, FIAMA stated in a tweet.
