Denial of Permission for Mass Marriage Event for Converts to Islam in Bareilly

The Ittehad-e-Millat Council (IMC) has postponed its proposed mass marriage program for individuals who have converted to Islam from other religions, following the denial of permission by the district administration.

IMC chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan stated, “We abide by the law. The mass marriage program will proceed only with administration approval. Despite our request, permission was not granted.”

IMC state in-charge Nadeem Qureshi confirmed that the city magistrate declined permission for the conversion and marriage event, leading to its current postponement. Earlier, Khan had announced plans for the marriage of five couples in which individuals, having converted from Hinduism to Islam, would complete their conversion process and wed. However, IMC’s request for permission from the district administration was rejected on Tuesday evening.

District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar clarified, “The IMC sought permission for an event involving religious conversion and marriage, which was not granted. They have since informed us of postponing the program.”

The controversy stirred protests by Hindu organizations, who demanded action against Khan and submitted memorandums to the district magistrate outlining their grievances.

Efforts are underway for a mass marriage ceremony scheduled for July 21 at Khalil Higher Secondary School, with pending permission sought from the administration.
