DEO exhorts “major” youths to enroll as voters to cast votes in polls

Hyderabad: District Election Officer & GHMC Commissioner M. Dana Kishore has appealed the youths and students, who have attained the age of 18 years to enroll their names in the Electoral Rolls to cast their votes in the ensuing Elections.

An awareness program was conducted at Kasturba Women’s College at Secunderabad with regard to Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls where the DEO was the chief guest, Zonal Commissioner Hari Chandana Raghu Prasad, Principal of the College Anitha Reddy participated in the Awareness Campaign.

While interacting with the students, the DEO said that most of the youth are not coming forward to enroll their names in the Electoral Rolls for which he appealed the students to come forward along with their friends to enroll their names who have attained the age of 18 years as on January 1, 2018 to further strengthen the democracy to elect the government for overall development of the State.

It has been observed that the Women Voters are less when compared to that of male voters. There is no difference between women and men everybody have equal rights to cast their votes. For enrollment of names the youth can avail the toll free No. 1800-599-2999 to know the complete information. To enhance the voters strength this type of awareness campaign are being conducted said the DEO.

Dana Kishore also participated in the Swachh Survekshan program conducted on the college premises and removed debris and so on with the students. Principal Anitha Reddy briefed the Commissioner that they have taken up five rain harvesting pits and as a part of Harithaharam, saplings have been planted, he added. (NSS)
