Deputy Chief Minister Launches Special Vehicles for Swift Power Restoration in Greater Hyderabad

In a significant step to enhance emergency power restoration services, Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Monday launched a fleet of specially designed vehicles aimed at providing faster response to power outages in the Greater Hyderabad limits. These vehicles, one for each of the 57 divisions in the region, will be equipped to handle emergency power disruptions around the clock.

Each vehicle will be manned by a team consisting of one assistant engineer and three line staff, ensuring that outages and other electrical issues can be addressed immediately. The vehicles will come fully equipped with essential safety gear and tools, such as ladders, insulators, conductors, cables, earth rods, and helmets. These provisions will allow the teams to efficiently attend to a range of power-related emergencies, including the towing and replacement of transformers.

The new vehicles are integrated with the TGAIMS (TGSPDCL GIS Asset Inspection & Maintenance System) mobile application. This cutting-edge technology will enable engineers to systematically identify defects in the power network, including 33 kV, 11 kV, and LT lines. With real-time data and precise defect identification, the teams can expedite repairs and maintenance, improving overall service delivery.

Speaking at the launch, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the importance of these vehicles in improving emergency power services. “These vehicles can be called electric ambulances,” he said. “They will help in urgent rectification of electrical emergencies. Thus, faster and better services will be available to the users. I hope that these vehicles will provide excellent service to the people of the city.”

The initiative is expected to significantly reduce the time taken to restore power during outages, providing a much-needed boost to Hyderabad’s infrastructure. The state government hopes that the launch of these vehicles will improve both the efficiency of power services and the overall satisfaction of residents, ensuring a seamless supply of electricity across the city.

The move comes as part of the government’s broader efforts to modernize power distribution systems and ensure that Hyderabad remains a well-serviced urban hub, particularly as the city continues to grow both in terms of population and industrial demand.

With these new “electric ambulances,” the Telangana government is aiming to minimize the disruption caused by power outages and provide Greater Hyderabad with a reliable, swift response to any electrical emergencies.
