Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao today exhorted the officials and staff to work efficiently for allround development of rural pockets. Secretaries to be appointed soon will be playing an active role in the villages, he added.
The minister was talking to a delegation of TNGO leaders and secretaries, who met him and thanked him for offering promotions to village secretaries at the Secretariat today. The new Panchayat Raj Act has been offering effective governance at the doorsteps of the people and it is time for the officials to work in tandem, he said. Jupally said it was decided to appoint a secretary for every village for its development by implementing the schemes and programs, he said. The officials should work with commitment for achieving inclusive growth, he said.
As per the New Panchayat Raj Act, the schemes of welfare and development programs will reach out to the people at their doorsteps, the minister said and called upon the officials to focus on Swachch, employment guarantee scheme and Haritha Haram programs and change the shape of the villages to drape in new look of better facilities and clean environment.
The delegation comprising TNGO president and secretary Ravindera reddy and Rajender and others appealed to the minister to consider giving weightage for promotions as secretaries to eligible bill collectors and others with experience in the village panchayats. (NSS)
