South Indian superstar Dhanush is set to make waves once again with his upcoming multilingual film ‘Kubera’, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sekhar Kammula. The film also features veteran actor Nagarjuna in a pivotal role and Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead. The cast and crew were recently in Mumbai for a song launch, where Dhanush candidly shared his thoughts about the project.
Speaking at the event, Dhanush described Kubera as a project that’s “very close to his heart.” He added, “Shooting for this film was a fantastic experience. We were all happy throughout the process. A film like this deserves to be promoted with full force.”
The versatile actor revealed a surprising detail about his role: “I play a beggar. If I say I did a lot of research for this role, that would be a lie. I did nothing. I just followed Sekhar Kammula’s direction on set—he made everything easy for me. This role is unlike anything I’ve done before.”

Praising the director, Dhanush added, “Sekhar sir is a wonderful human being. In an industry where you meet all kinds of people, working with someone like Sekhar makes the journey worthwhile. He narrated the story in just 20 minutes, and I said yes immediately.”
One behind-the-scenes story had everyone laughing. “Rashmika and I had to shoot in a dump yard for nearly seven hours. I asked her if the smell bothered her, and she said she couldn’t smell anything! I still can’t believe that,” he chuckled.
Reflecting on his experience, Dhanush said the film brought back powerful memories from his early days. “I know where I come from, and this film took me right back to my roots. It was nostalgic and enlightening.”
When asked how he manages such diverse roles, Dhanush said, “I’m like a processor—I need data to function. My directors feed me the data, and I just process it.”
With Kubera expected to hit screens soon, fans across India are eagerly anticipating Dhanush’s transformational performance, once again proving his prowess as one of the country’s most dynamic actors.
