Aishwarya Sharma, a new face from the North, is set to make her debut in the Telugu film industry with Drinker Sai, which is scheduled for release on December 27. The film, directed by Kiran Tirumalasetty, stars Aishwarya opposite Dharma in the lead role.
In an exclusive interview ahead of the release, Aishwarya shared insights about her character and the journey that led her to this significant milestone. “I play a medical student named Baghi in this film,” she revealed, adding that when she first heard the story, she felt that her character was strong and dynamic. “It was quite challenging as an actress, but I was excited to take it on. I auditioned for the film by performing a few scenes, and they liked it, which led to my involvement in this project,” Aishwarya explained.
Aishwarya’s passion for acting comes from her family background, as her father is a stage actor. “Maybe his influence has affected me unconsciously. Since childhood, I wanted to become an artist,” she said. While she initially dreamed of becoming a dancer and singer, Aishwarya shifted her focus to acting after completing her 12th grade. She moved to Mumbai from Jammu and enrolled in an acting course. After finishing her course, she began auditioning and appeared in several advertisements before landing her first film role.

However, acting in a Telugu film came with its own set of challenges. “The language was a bit of a hurdle. Sometimes, I didn’t fully understand what I was saying, and that was the only challenge I faced during shooting,” she admitted. Aishwarya mentioned that her co-actor, Dharma, was extremely supportive, particularly when it came to helping her with the Telugu dialogues.
Despite the language barrier, Aishwarya feels fortunate to be part of the project, which she believes also carries meaningful messages for the audience. “I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of this project. The film conveys some really important messages,” she said. Speaking about her character, she described Baghi as a blend of innocence and toughness. “She will appear innocent but also tough, strict, and somewhat rebellious. There are some fun elements in my character,” Aishwarya shared.
The actress also compared her character in Drinker Sai to that of Arjun Reddy, another popular Telugu film. “Drinker Sai and Arjun Reddy are completely different. Arjun Reddy portrays a classy version of a drinker, whereas our Sai is a more mass-oriented character,” she said, highlighting the contrast between the two roles.
Aishwarya’s family has always been fond of South Indian cinema, particularly Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada films. “I am very happy to be a part of such an industry,” she added. She also shared that Dhanush is her favorite actor and mentioned that she had recently watched Lucky Baskhar, appreciating his performance in the film.
As Drinker Sai gears up for its release, Aishwarya Sharma’s debut marks the arrival of a fresh talent in the Telugu film industry, and fans are eager to see her take on this exciting new role.
