Hyderabad: Telangana State Election Commission officials today directed the Collectors of all the districts to get ready for upcoming polls for municipalities and corporations in the State. The EC officials said in a video conference that the High Court is to give its final verdict on the municipal polls on October 31.
The EC has asked the Collectors to make arrangements for holding polls for 120 municipalities and nine corporations. Keeping the court directions in view, election notification will be issued any time in November first week. On getting reservations and ward-wise details from the State government, the EC will issue poll notification for municipalities and corporations. Check the EVMs, equipment used so far for the forthcoming polls, the EC asked the District Collectors.
The EC said some 8,056 polling stations will be arranged in 3,103 wards. Each polling station will be for 800 voters and about 79 lakh voters will participate in the polls. The officials will ink middle finger of left hand of the voters in the polls. After the court verdict, the State government and Election Commission will discuss about arrangements for polls likely to be held in November. (NSS)
