Elon Musk’s Satellite Broadband Company To Come To India

In the latest update, Elon Musk’s satellite company Starlink has registered its business in India. As per Sanjay Bhargava, India director for Starlink informed that the company is in process to apply for licenses in the country.

The company’s satellite broadband services are being targeted in India in 2022. However, it’s availability is subject to regulatory approvals. In a LinkedIn post, Bhargava said that SpaceX now has a 100 percent owned subsidiary in India. The name is SSCPL, Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited and the incorporation date is November 1, 2021. He said that they can now apply for licences, open bank accounts, etc.

Earlier this month, Starlink announced that it will focus on 10 rural Lok Sabha constituencies to provide internet services across them. Bhargava also said that he is keen to have a 30 minutes long virtual conversations with the MPs, Ministers, Secretaries to the Government of India or the Principal Secretaries to states to see if they think 100 percent broadband would help in making lives better.

He added that they will probably focus on 10 rural Lok Sabha constituencies for 80 percent of the Starlink terminals shipped to India. The selection of the focus constituencies will be based on the number of preorders from rural constituencies.

Recently, Starlink shipped 100,000 terminals to the customers. The project further aims to provide global broadband connectivity via a constellation of satellites. SpaceX began satellite launches in November 2019 and opened its $99 per month beta programme for select customers around a year later.

Recently, Elon Musk who is the richest person in the world challenged the United Nations and said that he is ready to sell $6 billion worth of Tesla stock and donate the proceeds to the UN’s food agency if they could show that how the money would be able to solve the world hunger.
