Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao today asked the officials to expedite the works under Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and ensure that the workers get 100 days’ work in the villages. The minister said 60 per cent Job Card Holders should get cent per cent of works under National Employment Guarantee scheme.
He was addressing an NREGS job council meeting at NIRD along with officials. The officials have to focus on increasing number of individual toilets in villages to make open defecation free under Bharath program he said. This scheme he said has to be completed by October 2 to mark Gandhi Jayanthi and see that the people in rural pockets get their toilet facility at their residences. Krishna Rao asked that the workers can be given toilets construction works and enable them to get 100 days of work.
The minister warned of serious action against the officials for dereliction and negligence of completing the task and giving work to the job card holders. The workers should also get payment on time he asked the officials. He called upon the local leaders to coordinate with the officials for offering work to working class in the villages for development. Krishna Rao said that the villages are getting a facelift with road development works through Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana. He expressed displeasure at reported irregularities in Ranga Reddy and Kamareddy districts while completing the works under NREGS. He directed to inquire and a submit a report in one week. Such acts will be dealt with seriously, Rao warned. (NSS)
