The Mysuru gang rape has sparked a major outrage across the country with demands from citizens to give strict punishment to the perpetrators. Many have come forward urging the Karnataka police to deal with the accused in a stringent manner, including “chopping off” their body parts and following “what was done in Hyderabad”.
The comments came from the former Chief Minister of Karnataka and the current tourism minister of the state. JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy suggested the police handle the accused the same way Hyderabad cops had encountered the 4 rapists who burnt a female veterinarian alive after raping her in Shamshabad in 2019.
“I appreciate the Hyderabad police in dealing with a rape case. What did they do finally? Unless stringent action is taken things will not improve,” the former CM said.

Back in the day, the rapists were taken to the crime spot to recreate the scene. The accused allegedly tried fleeing from the place when they were shot dead by the police.
“The government should handle it delicately and follow what was done in Hyderabad,” Kumaraswamy added. He also went ahead to hold the government and the cops responsible for allowing people to drink at public places and claimed gambling to be a major activity of the villages in the state.
Blaming the system of encouraging criminals, he said the police has become incompetent because of the “transfer of money”. Despite being sent to jail, perpetrators easily get released on bail in a few days he said.
Meanwhile, the Tourism and Environment and Ecology minister of the state, Anand Singh, said, “Everything of the perpetrators should be chopped off. Such incidents should not have happened,” in what seemed to refer to their body parts.
In connection to the case, 5 accused have been arrested this morning and the police allege one of them is likely a juvenile, aged 17 years. However, several people are raising questions over this claim. Another accused is still on the run and the police is making attempts to nab him, officials said.
