False Claims About Ukraine War Go Viral Thanks to “Crisis Actors” and “Fake Body Bags”

Any conflict-like circumstance results in the spread of false or inaccurate information, particularly on social media. The same thing is happening in Ukraine, where the Russian military invaded roughly two weeks ago.

Some of these “outlandish” views contend that the Ukraine war is a deception perpetrated by the West.

Despite photographs of thousands of people fleeing Ukraine, some internet users refuse to accept the situation is real.

They make ridiculous assertions such as using actors to act out scenes from an attack to establish that the war is a sham. One such claim comes in the form of a video that has been circulating on Facebook and other platforms, showing a young man and a young woman having fake blood applied to his face. Many people refer to them as “crisis actors.”

The video, on the other hand, has nothing to do with the war. It depicts the preparation of a scene for the Ukrainian TV series Contamin, which will air in 2020. The original tweet can be found below:

Another video shows a news reporter standing in front of many body bags. After a few seconds, one of the corpse bags begins to stir, and the cover is removed by a guy. The text accompanying the video, which has been widely circulated on social media platforms, reads, “More propaganda by the west: A body came back to life amid live reporting of a human catastrophe by a Polish broadcaster.”

However, the claim is false. According to this news article, the footage is from a climate change protest organised by “Friday For Future” in Austria’s Vienna in February. The body bags, which were part of the demonstration, were intended to demonstrate the hazards of carbon emissions to life on Earth.

Another video from Fox News showing Ukrainian men with wooden guns has gone viral, supporting assertions that the battle is Western propaganda. The photographs, on the other hand, are of a pre-war training camp in which civilians are being prepared to fight Russians when the time comes.
