Parents and family members of the youth, who were arrested in connection with the violence protest at Secunderabad railway station, thronged the Chenchalguda Prison on Monday to meet their wards under the Mulaqat provision.
The jail authorities received over 300 applications under the Mulaqat and provided an opportunity for the maximum number of people to meet their wards.
Police have arrested so far 46 persons and remanded them in connection with the Secunderabad incident. The cases under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Indian Railways Act and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act were invoked against the persons who participated in the violence. Police said it could also attract life imprisonment sentence to them.
Speaking to the media here, some family members said their children were innocent and they were misguided to indulge in the violence act.
” We weren’t aware of them participating in the protest and couldn’t imagine that our children are faced charges and are behind the bars,” they lamented.
