Farmers Leader Rakesh Tikait Issues Warning To Meet The Demands By November 26 Else Face Intense Agitations

With almost a year since the farmer’s protest at the borders of Delhi, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Monday said that if the farmers’ demands are not met till November 26, they would put tents the next day across the borders and start the protest again.

Tikait Warns On Twitter

Tikait has been running a consortium of farmers groups and unions under the banner of Samyukt Kisan Morcha since the past 11 months. They have been demanding the withdrawal of the three farms laws passed by the Centre in 2020.

He took to Twitter to send out a warning regarding the protests. He said that if the demands are not met till the deadline, the farmers would reach the borders with tractors and trolleys and fortify the area after placing their tents.

This comes after the Delhi police recently removed the barricades at the Tikri border to ease the movement of traffic. The police had also removed blockages on the carriage towards Delhi at the Ghazipur border on Friday.

On the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Tikait on Sunday tweeted that Patel said that the voices of the farmers are unheard in the British ruled India.

“But are the farmers’ voices heard in independent India?” tweeted, Tikait.

Delhi Police Removes Barricades From Tikri Border

The Delhi police last week on Thursday removed the barricades and the wires from Tikri border area. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Parwinder Singh spoke to the media and said that they had a meeting with the farmer leaders and the stretch going towards Haryana from Delhi has been opened and traffic movement has already started.

He further said that the farm union leaders have expressed their apprehensions that since their tents are placed on the road and if a heavy vehicle passes and hits any of the protestors then there would be law and order issue.

Singh responded and said that area doesn’t have space for heavy vehicles to move from there which is why they decided to allow for the light vehicles to pass through.
