A devastating fire broke out at a hotel in Patna on Thursday , resulting in six deaths and injuring at least 15 others. The incident occurred at the four-story Pal Hotel, which is located near the Patna railway station and is known for its popularity and heavy foot traffic.
The fire began around 10:45 pm, and initial reports suggest it may have originated from an LPG cylinder explosion in the hotel’s kitchen. The blaze quickly spread throughout the building, causing significant damage and panic among the hotel’s guests and staff.

In the chaos that ensued, some people on the higher floors were forced to jump out of windows to escape the spreading fire. Emergency services rushed to the scene, deploying several fire tenders and cranes to assist with rescue operations. More than 40 individuals were safely rescued from the hotel, but the tragedy left six dead, including three women. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

Of the 15 injured, two remain in critical condition and are receiving treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital. Efforts were made to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings, with firefighters working tirelessly to control the flames and ensure the safety of surrounding structures.
Patna City Superintendent of Police (Central) Satya Prakash confirmed the deaths and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. He also acknowledged the quick response of emergency services, which played a vital role in minimizing further casualties and damage.
Fire Department Director General Shobha Ohatker provided insight into the department’s ongoing initiatives to conduct regular fire audits and raise public awareness about fire safety, particularly in crowded areas like hotels. Ohatker emphasized the importance of adhering to safety protocols to prevent such tragic incidents and mentioned that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Pal Hotel is one of Patna’s oldest and busiest hotels, attracting a large number of guests due to its proximity to the railway station. The incident has left the community in shock and has prompted authorities to reassess safety measures at hotels and other public places to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
